Great Hiking Spots in Southern California

Southern California is one of the most expensive cities to live in. That doesn’t mean that you can’t do fun things in the area. If you’re looking to get started on a fitness goal, looking to relax or try something new, hiking in So Cal may be what you’re looking for.

Hiking is a great way to relieve stress without breaking the bank and can be done by yourself or with a group of friends. Here’s a couple local spots to check out in the area:

  • Etiwanda Falls: Located in Rancho Cucamonga, it is beautiful 40 minute uphill hike to a serene waterfall. It is definitely worth the effort.
  • Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park: Sycamore Canyon is in Riverside has been a local favorite for years. There are different trails on the hike and you can find others hiking, biking or even running.
  • Claremont Hills Wilderness Trail: A moderately challenging 5 mile hike in Claremont with some pretty steep climbs and descents. There are multiple trails for both hiking and biking, with different incline grades.
  • Two Trees Trail: A moderately difficult hike in the Box Springs Mountains, but one that will reward you with great views and possible animal sightings.
  • The “Big C” Trail: Another favorite spot in Riverside. The hike leads up to a big concrete “C” overlooking Riverside. This has been a longtime goodluck tradition for UC Riverside students.
